Arch-Tempered Jin Dahaad (Heart of Judecca, 9-star)

◷ 7 min read ◆ Published

Arch-Tempered Jin Dahaad is the fourth Arch-Tempered target Capcom rotated into Monster Hunter Wilds, and the first tied to Title Update 4's Iceshard Leviathan. The quest (Heart of Judecca, 9-star, HR 100+) is a permanent event, not a two-week rerun. You clear it for Dahaad γ gear and the ice-plate materials that feed the endgame Fire builds coming out of Rimechain Peak.

✦ Scout's short answer

Bring a Fire weapon: Great Sword or Long Sword if you want the safety, Dual Blades if you can rotate elemental phials cleanly. Hit Ice Resistance 20+ before you queue. Break the outer ice plates first (head, back, tail) for the A-rank drop pool, then finish on the head. Do not stand under the tail during Frostblight windows.

What Arch-Tempered actually changes

Arch-Tempered is Wilds's Tempered-plus tier: same monster silhouette, higher HP pool, higher raw and status damage, and a redirected reward table. In practice: a one-mistake pattern. Shave-your-health-bar hits at Tempered become carts at Arch-Tempered without Divine Blessing or hardened Ice Resistance.

For Jin Dahaad, Game8's writeup describes more aggressive combo chaining and a body slam that can chain into itself twice. Treat those specifics as unverified until you feel the pattern yourself. The core lesson: safe openings at Tempered stop being safe here.

Prerequisites and how to unlock

  • Hunter Rank 100 minimum. No side quest or story flag; just the HR floor.
  • You need Title Update 4 installed (December 2025) or later. Any current patch is fine.
  • Grab Heart of Judecca from the event quest counter in Suja. It stays on the board.
  • The one-time challenge variant, The Cold Path to Oblivion, ran January 6–20, 2026 and is no longer available.

Pre-fight prep

Elemental profile

Jin Dahaad's core weakness is Fire, and Arch-Tempered doesn't change that. Any Fire Artian roll with decent Sharpness passives carries the fight. If your Fire options are thin, a high-raw Great Sword with strong hit-and-run positioning is an honest fallback.

Skills to prioritise

  • Ice Resistance to at least 20. The cheap Decoration path is three Frost Res tiers. Neutralises the Iceblight stamina drain.
  • Divine Blessing 3 or 4: the best hedge against a chained-slam one-shot.
  • Constitution 3: Iceblight ticks stamina hard even at capped resistance; keeping evasion frames alive matters.
  • Weakness Exploit: the head stays the sweet spot; every point converts.
  • Attack Boost or the offensive skill that best pairs with your weapon's Artian passives.

Consumables checklist

  • 10× Hot Drink (cold biome, no way around it)
  • 10× Nulberry (clears Frostblight, keeps you moving)
  • Max Potions and Ancient Potions; the fight is long enough that Mega Potion charge time hurts
  • Flash Pods if you're on a slower weapon; Jin Dahaad is aggro-eyed enough to react

Moveset: what to watch for

The dangerous kit matches base Jin Dahaad, only quicker into and out of each animation. The Arch-Tempered additions below come from third-party writeups (Game8, Fextralife), not Capcom-published patch text. Verify against a hunt or two before you build your dodge timings around them.

  • Wide ice beam sweep. Jin Dahaad rears its head and blasts a sustained frost cone across the arena floor. Dive perpendicular to the sweep, not away from it; the arc is too wide to outrun.
  • Ice Pillar Eruption. Tail-slam into the ground, three ice pillars erupt in sequence. Keep moving until all three have popped; the last one is the wipe.
  • Body slam → body slam chain. The reported Arch-Tempered addition. If the first slam misses, hold your heavy attack; the second lands where you'd naturally punish.
  • Frostblight breath. Short-range cone that freezes on contact. Nulberry immediately or you eat the follow-up for full damage.

Breakable parts and reward routing

Break priorities match base Jin Dahaad, but the reward table skews harder toward outer ice plates. Standard MH break math applies: parts broken during the hunt roll on the carve table on top of the standard quest rewards.

  • Head: highest damage multiplier, primary break for topples. Prioritise if you're on Great Sword or Hammer.
  • Outer ice plates (head, lower back, tail): the plate breaks unlock the γ armor material rolls. Aim for all three before you finish.
  • Tail sever: removes the Ice Pillar Eruption's launch pad. Lance and Long Sword should route to this second.
  • Front legs: trip window. Useful for staggering out of the second body slam.

The Jin Dahaad Certificate γ gates Dahaad γ crafting. It drops guaranteed from Heart of Judecca clears, but the plate breaks pad your material pool for the rest of the set.

Common wipes

  • Standing under the tail. The Ice Pillar Eruption launches from where the tail hits. If you're on the tail with anything but a Lance, you're rolling out into pillar range.
  • Healing during Frostblight. Potion animation locks; the follow-up lands. Nulberry first, potion second. Always.
  • Greeding after a topple. Arch-Tempered topple windows are shorter. Two combos, not three; get out.
  • No Ice Resistance. Iceblight at 0 resist drains stamina fast enough to break Constitution 3, so you'll run out of evade mid-dodge and eat the second slam.

After the clear: where the gear goes

Dahaad γ plugs into the standard Wilds gamma-set pattern: heavy on offensive skills, thinner on utility slots than the β equivalent. It's the natural next set once you've locked in a Fire Artian Weapon, and it feeds directly into the Zoh Shia prep track, since Zoh Shia's fire-tolerant openings punish the same weapons AT Jin Dahaad rewards you for mastering.

If you're still farming Artian Weapons, this quest is one of the better sinks for HR 100+ runs: short travel path, predictable openings once you've read them twice, no biome traversal on the reset. Slot it into a farming rotation with the base Zoh Shia quest and the Tempered Arkveld runs.
